Our Church MinistriesSharing Our Gifts“What do you get excited about? What are you passionate about?” These are important questions at Arlington Hills. We believe that God has given each of us unique talents, skills, gifts, or passions. We always do better at the things we enjoy. As part of belonging to the Arlington Hills Church family we help people discover what their gifts and passions are. Then we look for opportunities for people to use those gifts to the glory of God! For example, Pastor Chip loves to fish, so he developed an intergenerational Canadian Fishing Camp for the Minnesota Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Each year, he takes a group of United Methodist from Arlington Hills and other churches to Ontario for a week of fishing and spiritual refreshment. It’s a ministry he looks forward to each year with great anticipation! What excites you? What are you passionate about? Invite God into those places in your life and see what happens!!! Arlington Hills celebrates the talents, skills and gifts belonging to each church member: teaching, leading, organizing, greeting, visiting, listening, speaking, creating, building, performing and nurturing are just some of the ways we can contribute. Let us know what you love to do. We’d love to know! Church MinistryOur ministry teams are organized to handle the ongoing affairs of the church and to provide opportunities for outreach and service within our church, our community, our state, our country and the world. These groups meet at least once a month year round. Everyone is encouraged to get involved in the work of the church by joining one of these teams. Service and OutreachArlington Hills has a thriving community service and outreach program led by the Mission and Outreach Ministry Team, the UMW, some of our fellowship groups and our Youth Ministry. Our goal is to have “Hands-on mission projects which engage 50% of our members annually.” We are well on our way to meeting that goal. In our annual budget we support the three ethnic Methodist Churches, the Union Gospel Mission, the Emma Norton Residence, and a number of other local service organizations. On a contingency basis we support national and world emergencies as they arise, with the constraints of our available resources. Our pastor, our Director of Shared Ministries and many lay people support the sick, disabled and elderly in our congregation through prayers, visits and special programming. Our Youth program is also deeply mission oriented. Sponsored by the UMW, the Quilting Group meet a couple of times a month to work and pray together. The fruits of their labors, quilts, blankets, afghans and more, are donated to local charities which serve women and children. The Youth Group performs several service projects throughout the year. In addition they make a Mission Trip in service to others every other year. In recent years the group has visited PET Farms in Florida and … In addition, we have a long history of ongoing supporting: Caring MinistriesSee the Nurture & Education page for more information on Caring Ministry opportunities.
