United Methodist Women Circles
UMW Circles
UMW Circles provide a way for women to meet regularly in smaller groups to worship, study, and be in fellowship with each other. Our circles (four in all) meet once a month – usually the first week of the month. Our circles have similar tasks and goals, but are each unique in the way they fellowship and in the way they fulfill the UMW purpose. All of the circles come together a few times a year for special events.
Lydia Circle meets on Wednesday
Rebekah Circle meets on Thursday
Naomi Circle meets on Thursday
Hannah Circle meets on Saturday
Time during each meeting is devoted to prayers, devotions, and sharing joys and concerns. During some months there are specific programs such as a Pledge Service, a World Thank Offering program, a Prayer and Self Denial program or perhaps a special mission project. All circles use a portion of their meetings in study; completing three study topics. Study categories include a Bible study, a geography study and a cultural (or current event) study.
Circles take turns serving during the Sunday morning fellowship time, serving at the general UMW meetings, and serving at funerals. General meetings bring all of the circles together a few times a year. Some of these involve special occasions such as the annual Spring Banquet and Christmas Brunch.
The UMW generally holds one major fundraiser a year to support their mission work both within our community and in the world around us.

Fellowship
As any circle member can tell you, circle is definitely a time for having “fun” together. In some months a group may decide to have a pot-luck meal or enjoy an outing to a restaurant. Some circle groups exchange names for Secret Pal fellowship.

Giving
Circle members are encouraged to support the UMW through an annual pledge. These gifts support the local unit, are sent through the district and conference offices as our annual Pledge to Mission, and support other mission projects within our church and our community.
